About Gateway

Established in 1969, Gateway Counseling Center is a nonprofit, community based clinic that serves the uninsured and under-insured in Madison Heights, Royal Oak, Sterling Heights, Troy, Warren and surrounding cities. In addition to individual psychotherapy and counseling, Gateway provides group therapy to adolescents and adults for substance abuse, domestic violence treatment for men, parenting classes and a variety of other personal and emotional needs. Further, Gateway is a teaching clinic providing practicum and internship experience for students from the Michigan School of Professional Psychology, Oakland University, Wayne State University and a number of other local and distance learning colleges and universities.

As Deputy Director, I am responsible for various administrative duties, the clinical supervision of doctoral level interns, the facilitation of treatment groups, and individual psychotherapy and counseling.

Testimonial:
"I was recently a Master's level psychology intern at Gateway. When I was looking for placements in the Detroit area I had the expectation that my internship was going to be another "class" in my education process. Not only have my expectations been highly exceeded, I have had a life changing experience while at Gateway. I feel tremendous joy and honor coming into work everyday knowing that I am a part of a place filled with passion, care and integrity. The training I am receiving at Gateway is creating a strong foundation for the rest of my career as a therapist. For this I am grateful. I highly recommend Gateway as a place to receive therapy."
